Why do I need to verify my WhatsApp?

WhatsApp verification is required to:

  • Prevent fake/spam accounts
  • Enable direct communication with buyers/sellers
  • Show a Contact Verified badge that builds trust
  • Protect the Malawian marketplace from scammers

Note: Contact Verified sellers can post 1 listing.

How does Identity Verification (KYC) work?

Identity Verification (KYC) confirms your identity using official documents. Once approved, you'll receive the ID Verified badge — the highest trust level on MalondaPlace.

How do I contact a seller?

After finding a listing you like:

  1. Click on the listing to view full details
  2. Tap the WhatsApp button to open a chat
  3. Send your message directly through WhatsApp

Tip: Ask for extra photos, condition details, and video call to see the item.

Should I request a video call before buying?

Yes, absolutely! Request a WhatsApp video call to:

  • See the item in real-time
  • Confirm the seller actually has the item
  • Build trust before meeting
  • Save time if the item doesn't match

A 2-minute video call can save you from a wasted trip.

How can I buy safely from another location?

If you're buying from a different city:

  • Option 1: Ask a trusted friend or relative in that location to inspect and collect the item for you
  • Option 2: Use a reliable courier — but verify the receipt authenticity before paying
  • Important: Never pay before you or someone you trust has seen the item

If anything feels suspicious, stop the transaction and report the seller.

What if the seller asks me to pay first?

🚨 Never pay before seeing the item.

MalondaPlace does not process payments. Buyers and sellers agree on payment methods directly.

Never send:

  • Bank Transfer first
  • Airtel Money first
  • Mpamba first
  • "Transport fees" in advance
  • "Booking fees" to hold an item
  • Any deposit to a stranger

If someone pressures you to pay first — walk away.

Selling on MalondaPlace

How do I post a listing?
  1. Click Sell in the top menu
  2. Select a category (e.g., Phones, Furniture)
  3. Add 3–5 clear photos from different angles
  4. Write an honest description (include flaws!)
  5. Set your price and location
  6. Publish — it's 100% free!

Pro tip: Verified sellers get more buyer trust and faster sales.

Why can't I post more than 1 listing?

Contact Verified sellers can post 1 listing to start. This helps us maintain quality and prevent spam.

To unlock unlimited listings, complete Identity Verification (KYC). Once approved, you'll receive the ID Verified badge.

What should I do after selling an item?
  • Mark it as Sold on your dashboard
  • Ask the buyer to vouch for you — this builds your reputation
  • Keep your listing updated and remove it if no longer available

What seller badges should I look for?

MalondaPlace has two verification badges:

  • Contact Verified — Seller verified their WhatsApp number
  • ID Verified — Seller completed Identity Verification (KYC) — highest trust

Always prefer sellers with one or both badges.

Does MalondaPlace guarantee my transaction?

No. MalondaPlace is a platform that connects buyers and sellers — we are not a party to any transaction.

This means:

  • We do not handle payments or escrow
  • We do not guarantee item quality or delivery
  • All transactions are direct agreements between users

That's why we emphasize verified accounts, in-person meetings, and never paying before seeing the item.

How do I report a suspicious seller?
  • Use the "Report" button on the listing
  • Contact AUTO (platform administrators)
  • Email support@malondaplace.com
